Forestry Tasmania Mountain Bike Championships

6th-7th March 2010

The Tasmanian State Mountain Bike Championships is the states premier mountain bike racing event, offering a wide range of events for competitors of all skill levels. The Championships also provide an elite level race environment to decide Tasmania’s fastest mountain bike racers. There will be many excellent spectator opportunities over the entire course of the weekend. On Behalf of the host club The Dirt Devils I would like to welcome you to The Championships, and wish you all the best in the event.

- Cross-country short course (XCC)
- Downhill (DHO)
- Four Cross (4X)

COMPETITOR REQUIREMENTS

All competitors in the championships will require the following to be eligible to enter:

- MTBA annual license or day license. Annual license $75 Junior and $100 Open. Day license $15, which covers the whole event weekend.
- An operational bike that passes a basic safety test
- Working front and rear brakes
- An Australian Standards Approved helmet. Full-face for downhill and open face for all other events

CROSS-COUNTRY OLYMPIC (XCO)

ENTRY FEE $20

The cross-country course at Glenorchy offers a wide range of riding terrain from fast open fire trails, to tight and technical singletrack. The majority of the course is rideable for all riders with a basic level of mountain bike experience.

CROSS-COUNTRY SHORT COURSE (XCC)

ENTRY $5 with XCO entry, $10 for XCC only

The Glenorchy XCC course is a short lap of just over one minute offering basic yet enjoyable mountain bike experience. The race group circles the course for 20 minutes regardless of laps, and then complete three laps following the 20 minute call- First across the line wins. The following classes will be on offer:

DOWNHILL

ENTRY $30 senior, $20 junior. (+$20 for Saturday practice)

The Glenorchy downhill track is widely renowned as one of the nations best- offering an action packed decent of between three and five minutes. Riders will race the course one at a time with the fastest time being declared the winner. The course is quite challenging though will be achievable by most riders with some mountain bike experience.

RECOMMENDATIONS

MTBA and The Dirt Devils recommend all riders consider wearing the following safety equipment:
- Gloves (full-finger)
- Arm and leg protection
- Long sleeve jersey
- Back and chest protection
- Neck brace

FOUR-CROSS (4X)

ENTRY $20

Four-cross is a four person head to head race with the fastest two racers in each round advancing. The Glenorchy four-cross track is filled with large and small jumps and bermed corners. The course is rollable, and will suit any rider with basic mountain bike experience.
